Bike Dude | Coach Collier
June 7, 2011
Aram Collier, a transplant from the States, learned solid bike safety Do’s from his old man and whizzing around San Francisco’s bike-friendly Golden Gate Park as a tyke. He also picked up his first Don’t on the very day he learned how to ride – by smashing into a curb and flying onto some well-placed grass.
Since making Toronto home a few years back, his days have been considerably smoother. Coach Collier keeps active on his trusty 2 wheels en route to softball with the ironically named team Something Witty (check his tee). He’s also recently been hitting libraries for inspiration and burning creative rubber for a touring, live film spectacle.
Favourite Routes: The Harbord/Wellesley corridor’s slightly safer-feeling alternative to Bloor Street is great for cutting across town. Loves the slalom down Broadview Ave. But not its streetcar tracks and car doors. Or people spinning their pedals in totally inappropriate gears. Or side-by-side cycling on busy streets. Or fellow bikers not looking before turning. Or slower riders jonesing to be first out of the gate at a green light. You get the idea.
